Expresses Average True Range as a percentage of the current close. Normalizing the value makes volatility readings easier to compare across instruments with different price levels.
How to read it
A higher line means recent candles have been larger relative to price; the reference line gives a fixed scale to compare against.
Indicators used
- ATR (14) as % of close
Same view with built-in indicators: Average True Range (14) shows the raw value in price units.
Default settings
| ATR period | 14 |
|---|---|
| Reference level | 1% |
Every value is an input in the script settings. Platform advice is off by default.
Key points
- ATR measures how big recent candles are.
- Dividing by price turns it into a percentage you can compare between assets.
- Rising ATR percent means the market is moving more than before.
- It tells you about size, never about direction.
Limitations. ATR describes recent movement size, not future direction. Test on the Practice balance before risking real funds.
Install it in four steps
- Download and inspectDownload one .lua file and open it in a plain-text editor if you want to read it first. If you downloaded the ZIP, extract it.
